all folders "Access Denied" when doing search

somewhat new so maybe missing a setting. but when I search for any file ( *.*) in any directory there is no result. there is a search log tab and all subdirectories say "Access is Denied" even though my windows permissions allow browsing, and I can browse the folders in FC.
