Why some files should open atomatically?

In the left panel, every time I move to a PDF, ODT, ODS file, a message opens, asking if I want to download or open the file. What does it mean, and how can I stop it appearing?

It is not normal behavior.
Have you tried the current beta
http://freecommander.com/fc_beta_en.htm?
Try to deactivate the file tooltips: Settings - File/folder list.

my wild guess is: your 'Quick view panel' is activated
if that is the case, deactivating it should solve the problem
methods for deactivating quick view:
1) Ctrl+Q
2) Menu - View - Quick view panel
