Thumbnails doesn't work

Just switched from "details view" to "thumbnail view" and nothing. The list of files disappeared and it looks like I am using a filter (the folder name is in red). It seems that you can't even change filter settings: you can only select "all files".
In practice, no filter is used - either quick filter or ctrl+f filter. It is like a filter is forced and you can do nothing.
When I switch back to "details view" or "list view" the list is back and folder name is back to black.
Version: 2008.6.0.317 beta on Windows XP SP2.
