I am trying to customize the columns but there is nothing in Help about the the View / Custom Columns (profiles) and I can't get it to work either..
I just want to get rid of the Attributes column and add the Created column.
Thanks in advance.

Have a look in Extras Menu > Settings > Custom Columns (profiles)...
In there you can customise them how you want.....
the icons at the top allow you to add profiles, and edit existing ones.

thanks Fad but you can see on line 1 above that "I can't get it to work"
..I can add a Profile with one column OK but how do you add a second and third column..?

OK...open the Custom Columns settings window....
Click the "Add to list" button...then name the new profile.....
Click the "Define Columns" button.....(it looks like a hammer)
Click the "Add to list" button...while that is still highlighted, go to the bottom....there`s a drop-down box called "Content"....
Choose "Created" in there, and I think that should do it....
(Repeat the process above to add more columns, and decide what information they should contain)
you can also change the width of the columns in there and align them left or right as well.
Then go to the "View" menu > Custom Columns, and choose the new profile you just created.....
You may have to alter the widths a few times so the fit perfectly on your screen.
I hope that explains

Bingo!
Fad, you should be Prime Minister.
I installed Free Commander 6 months ago but uninstalled it because of this prob - I just installed again as a try at a more reliable Search facility for Vista...

Glad you figured it out

..and i'll tell you what, it IS more reliable...
I have about 14 files with 'S&P' in the title.. 'S&Phourly', 'S&Pdaily', etc...
Searching using Free Commander gets all of them straight away...
Then I did the same search with Vista and it fails to find 'yearonS&P' completely (although it did get 'table S&P weekly').
So I stopped the Vista index running yesterday on all partitions and now
I have 3.8Gb more free space on the Vista system drive...
Wow.

Indexing is one of the first things I turn OFF
I don`t do a lot of searching, but when I do I use FileLocator Pro....
I must try to remember to test out the search in FC, I don`t know why I haven`t already
