The button establishes a new file & pulls up a dialog box for the filename.
BUT the dialog box does NOT have an extension field, and the file is saved WITHOUT ANY EXTENSION.
Either there should be an extension choice in the dialog (perhaps defaulting to text, as this supposedly creates a text file -- see Define Action Toolbars>Toolbars>Commands)
or, an extension "*.txt" should automatically be appended to the filename.

hi, forgot my sys details: FreeCommander XE 2014 Build 650, Windows 7 SP1 64-bit
Re: Open new text file button not completely functional
Strongly disagree. FC XE does all absolutely correct (all other file managers do it the same way). You could define any desired extension manually. Just add "." and needed extension after file name.
Re: Open new text file button not completely functional
So, if you hit Shift+Ctrl+N, or the New text file button, and you enter 123, you get a file named 123? I get a file named 123.txt. And if I enter 123.csv, I get a file named 123.csv. I think this is the ideal behavior and it is by default in FC XE 650.
Re: Open new text file button not completely functional
I can't confirm it, the extension is added correctly here.
