In FC the splitter bar had a 3-D feel, like a long vertical button.
It helps to get a genuine dual pane look . The splitter bar color
(which is not configurable) is hardly distinguishable from my
file list pane (with my color choice for file pane) so in FCXE it looks like a single pane with two sets of file lists. I don't want to change my file list pane color to solve this. It would be nice to have the splitter color confgurable instead or at least make it a 3-D bar (Like in FC). Thanks

I agree, the 3D look was much more appealing. The splitter bar was better in FC because you can grab any place in the bar and drag it. Now FCXE has this thin strip to the left of the bar that you have to grab.

Here is a voice stating a strong preference for the flat design.
