i was pleasantly surprised when i started to type in a folder name in the dialog for new folder and it was auto-filling the current date. ie 20130212, however, i wanted to know know if there was a way to have "-" in there?

i have 20130212 for auto-fill, i want 2013-02-12

Is this a setting somewhere? i can't seem to find where the format is coming from.

Look in Settings at File/Folder operations, you wil see (at the bottom) an option called "Create file/folder - name suggestion"...
