Switch off synchronisation of folder tree and active panel

#1 Post by KingKong » 21.10.2012, 16:02

FC (like Windows Explorer) "synchronizes" the folder tree with the active panel.
This can be annoying with 2 panels because the folder tree changes when one switches between panels.

It would be very nice if FC could give the option to toggle this synchronization off.
With synchronization off, the folder tree would remain unchanged by any operations in the left or right panels. The folder tree would then only change by operations made directly within the folder tree.

An option to toggle synchronisation off or on is provided in Xplorer2.
Hopefully a similar option this could be added to FC, which in other respects is a far superior program.

Very many thanks, Joby Toss.
"Follow location changes in the active panel" is fairly clear.

Being new to FC I missed this option because
the wording has been changed in FC XE 601 which I am using.

The new wording in FC XE is "Follow external address changes"
I don't understand this, or why the old wording was changed.

I suggest that the old wording be restored in FC XE.

In 603 the wording is "Follow location changes in the active panel." It was changed because "Follow external address changes" doesn't describe what this setting does -- it sounded like something external to FC, whereas it actually means outside the tree. You can see the recent discussion here viewtopic.php?f=6&t=4617.

EDIT: In 603, this setting is enabled by default.
