100% CPU usage wth FC XE 601 Folder Tree Display on

FC XE 601 is great BUT it seems to have a major defect, namely:-
100% cpu usage if the folder tree is displayed
immediately after any create, rename or move of files.
Over 80% of this 100% cpu usage is due to FC.
This seems to be a BUG in FC because similar problems never occur with Windows Explorer or Xplorer2 (from which I have just migrated to FC).
The problem only occurs if the folder tree is displayed.
It seems that FC is trying to "refresh" all files on the computer, not just those displayed in the other two panels.
100% cpu usage persists for many minutes - I don't know how long because I've never waited for it to finish.
The system does not crash, but all running programs become very sluggish.
The problem can be instantly resolved by simply toggling the folder tree display off and then back on.
However the problem instantly returns at the next file create, rename or move. (File deletion does not generally cause any problem).
The problem is not solved by changing any of the options in FC's Settings (View\file-folder list\refresh)
The problem occurs with both the standard and portable versions of FC.
The problem is not solved by redownloading and reinstalling FC.
My system is Windows XP SP3, Pentium4 2.80 MHz, with about 70G data in several thousands of files.
Conceivably the problem is caused by FC wastefully using resources to compute all folder sizes including those which are not currently displayed. However, other programs manage to do this without 100% cpu usage. (This is just a speculation on my part).
