lock up on large file

In version 2007.10a I came across the following:
I have a directory containing an 8.2GB file. Just single-clicking on the file name causes the program to lock up. I suspect that it is really just reading the file for some reason and I was not patient enough to wait for it to finish. In either case, it seems like a bug to me...
