I don't know whether FreeCommanderXE can have a setup similar to this, I must know. If I have multiple external drives and partitions and I want to see project files listed as folders, althoughunaware which external drive or partition they are linked too as this information is hidden or not. If is is linked to a external drive that is not connected, can the files be offline then sync when the external drive is connected ?

Double clicking any one of those folders goes to a specific drive or partition. Free commander only shows tabs with the drive and folders, I want to see a list of folders that I use regularly and not show any other information. If I go to a folder that is connected to a external drive it will show the last files offline and ask me if to connect the external device when there is a need.

If FreeCommanderXE can't do this, can anyone recommend a program that can and hopefully can work with FreeCommanderXE ?

if I understand you correctly, the functionality your looking for is already implemented in win7 as a feature called "libraries".
