Is it possible to assign a FC setting to a Favorite Tools button? If so, how can I do that?

Specifically, I would like to assign Folder/File List > Sorting > "Folders Like Files" to a button, but my question applies generally to any setting. Thanks in advance.

Thank you, ralfso -- it looks like you have pointed me to the answer. I thought I could only add FC commands to a toolbar, but that thread shows how to add any FC setting! (And thanks for a quick reply as well.)

Hmm... it didn't work out as I had hoped. For the setting "Sort folders like files" I entered <36441> in the "Program:" box of Define Favorite Toolbars. But when I click on the resulting button, I get the error message "The system cannot find the file specified." Apparently only FC commands work as Tool buttons, not FC settings options.

So back to my original question: Does anybody know how to do this?

It is not possible. I can define new action for switching the option.

That would be very nice, Marek. The folder sorting options are a *brilliant* expansion from the standard file sorting options, so adding command actions would be appropriate and very helpful.

I suppose you have already considered that there could be a command action for each of the five folder sorting options on File/Folder List > Sorting. And each could be toggled on or off.

The folder-sorting options are now available as action toolbar commands in beta 581. I added "Sort folders like files" as a toolbar button, and it works great! It toggles back and forth to my default setting. Thanks a lot Marek -- this is very useful!

The only folder-sort option not available as a toolbar command is "Sort by extension - folders too." I don't need that myself, but other users might.
