Hi there

Is it possible to multi-rename files from this format:

IMP_GFY_01_kasprgfy_385579_2012-01-10_18-29-21.txt
IMP_GFY_01_sanecgfy_440743_2012-01-11_17-34-49.txt
...
IMP_GFY_01_gadowgfy_486581_2012-01-12_17-32-44.txt

to this:

385579.txt
440743.txt
...
486581.txt

In totalcmd I use to use this pattern:

search: IMP_*_*_*_|_2012*
replace to: |.txt

but in free commander it doesn't work...
I've also red manual for multi-rename feature and still have no idea how to do this :/

If the number of characters before the number you need is the same - and the number of chars of the number is same too, then you can use this (as the file name):

[n,21,6]

Thanks Dreamer, you save the day! :)
However, sometimes start position of characters I need in not the same for all files. Is there no solution to use wildcard like '|' ?

Though multirename still not implemented the next version in the pipeline freecommander XE supports regular expressions in many places like searching etc.

So i suppose that multirename will also do this - you have to wait a little bit....

...And now the multi-rename IS implemented in the XE version! Well worth a try of the latter, as I've found it very stable and well behaved, despite it being called a 'pre-alpha' version.

Wow, nice! Is it available for download somewhere? I'd like to test it :)
