I use FC from several time
I've recently installed XE and updated to 570 public preview on a Workstation with Win XP SP.3

I've discovererd an issue with XE
I'm not able to see thumbnails for AutoCAD DWG files

In this image, you can see the same folder, shown on right with detailed informations and on left with Thumbnails view


As you can see on the attached image, PDF files (but also JPG, TIFF and all the other extensions) are correctly shown as preview.
DWG files are NOT shown.
In the previous version of FC, it works properly. If I use Windows File Manager, I can see the thumbnails.
AutoCAD version is quite recent (2009) so I'm sure that the preview is supported

Do you have some suggestions? Thumbnails function is very important on my job

I had a similar problem, but it wasn't FCXE's fault. I downloaded the Human-O2 icon pack, which is a package of png files, and about half of the images would not produce a thumbnail. But all my graphics editors that I tried to open them with said the png file was corrupted.

However, you might try deleting that "thumbs.db" file. That is a file used by windows where it caches thumbnails. If you delete it, Windows will make a new one.

Does anyone know, Marek, perhaps, if FCXE uses that thumbs.db file?

Another problem might be that cad images, I think might be proprietary. I use XnView (free and very fast) to view large collections of images in thumbnail view. XnView is 10 times faster than FCXE for this purpose - but you need a special plugin to view cad files, and that particular plugin for XnView is shareware. It will work if you don't buy it, but it puts a watermark stamp over the thumbnail; at least you can see the file, however!

I deleted thums.db as per your suggestion, but FCXE still refuse to show me thumbnails of DWG files
I tried to "re-create" thumbs.db using Windows and FXCE still doesn't work...

The strange thing is that in previous version of FC thumbnails are shown properly, also in the same directory. And I can see the thumbnails also with other file managers (Norton Commander, Windows...)
For this reason I suppose that the problem is NOT on cad images or database, but in FXCE

If is it possible, I'd like to avoid installing other software.
I like FC because I can "navigate" thru folders and, when I reach the required path, I can see the thumbnail of the file and "operate" on it, opening, zipping, copying and so on.

Nobody can suggest some other solutions?
