How to open zip or rar with Imagine plugin directly?

#1 Post by kidault » 30.07.2010, 02:30

I am using Imagine(a well known image viewer plugin for TC) as viewer plugin for pics, which can handle zip and rar archived files. But Freecommander can not send this type of file to it when I press F3, the archived files is viewed in text mode.

I have tried to add ".zip.rar" string in viewer-options-display at startup-as Image. It give me an "Unknown picture file extension (.zip)" error msg.

I have tried to add "EXT="RAR" | EXT="ZIP" | EXT="7Z"" in Detect string of this plugin in viewer-options-Plugins, but it seems that the detect string is not allowed to be modified.

Are there any way to make it work?

Best regards

It works for me:

- in the left panel open the zip file with some pictures
- select the file you want see with Imagine
- press F3 or Ctrl+Q for viewing the file

Thank you for your response.

Yes, I can open the zip or rar file with the freecommander bulit-in archive function, and then view the images in the zip file using F3 or ctrl-Q without extracting them myself.

But while doing this, the freecommander extracts the selected image in archive to a temp dir in C:\Users\****\AppData\Local\Temp\FreeCommander****\* . and then transfer the file path information to the imagine plugin.

What I need is to make the freecommander transfer the file path information of the archive file to the imagine plugin, which can handle it well in RAM. No file in the archive is needed to extract to harddisk.

Now I add the execute file of Imagine to the favorite tools toolbar, and assign the ctrl-1 hotkey to it. So I have got what I want.

I love Freecommander. ^_^

For working out given issue you can try rarfix. It can repair rar files from any devices: hard drives, flash cards. Program works under any system requirements and almost every supported software configurations of your computer. Tool recovers corrupted .rar files and it doesn't modify archive data after repairing.
