I think a feature identical to a layout, but without remembering a path, would make the application even more versatile.

Then it would be possible to apply these "layouts without paths" to any folders you 're viewing at the moment.

It would also be possible to switch between "layouts without paths" without changing folders. Whereas now, you have to A) carefully think how you want to view the folders you define in your layouts or B) create several layouts for the same folders, each with different filters, sorting options, etc. ...
