Unwanted Horizontal Scrolling

Pressing Alt-left goes back in history. Then pressing Alt-right will go forward until the end of history, *and then (in details view) start scrolling horizontally*. Now horz scrolling shortcut is very useful, but only when I want that! Is it documented anywhere?
Consider the following: I moved back and forth in history, and now want to return to the last (most forward) item. So I press Alt-right a bunch of times, and suddenly my view starts scrolling
. It would've been sorta OK if I had a shortcut scrolling back left. Do I???
Ideally, IMO, please keep Alt-arrows for history, and associate a different shortcut with horz scrolling. In the meantime, please disable the horz scrolling shortcut.
