I have a Standard action toolbar and a favorites toolbar. I right click on the toolbars, select Lock toolbars. The drag handles disappear. I then save settings, close and reopen FreeCommander XE 2024 Build 908 64-bit donor. The drag handles are back and the toolbars are no longer locked.

Please help!

Can't confirm in 908, with default settings, Windows 10.

Make sure, that FC settings are not in the folder "Program Files", if you're using portable version, install/unpack FC to other folder, e.g. C:\Tools\FreeCommander .

Thank you for your reply. I do have the portable version but the setting files are located here: C:\Users\wbird\Documents\MyDocs\Portable Programs\FreeCommander\Settings.

Any other suggestions would be most appreciated.

Still it could be a problem, if the FC program is in "C:" or in "C:\Program files".

Just to make sure, if you change the color scheme, restart FC, is the change preserved?

Which toolbar settings are you using? Option "many toolbars" - and "show menu as toolbar"?

I tried both options and it works good after FC restart.

Which OS are you using?

I changed the color scheme to one of your schemes, saved settings, closed and reopened FC and the color scheme stayed to what I set it to.

I'm using "many toolbars" and do NOT have "show menu as toolbar" set.

I'm running Windows 10 Pro 10.0.19045 Build 19045.

I not only restarted FC, but my computer also.

Thanks, that's strange, it looks, the settings are saved correctly, except the "lock" option, which works good here.

Possibly it could be some other option, so perhaps you could send settings to Marek via email.

I started portable FC with default setting files.

Here's my steps:
Delete all setting files
Open FC
Right click on action toolbar, select Define action toolbars...
Select General options tab, many toolbars, OK
Click on star icon on splitter action toolbar, select Favorite tools edit...
Click on the + sign to add new Favorite tool bar
Click on the lower + sign to add a program, select OK

Now there's one action toolbar and one favorites toolbar, both have the movable handles
Right click on action toolbar and select Lock toolbars
Right click on favorites toolbar and select Lock toolbars
Select Tools on the main menu, select Save Settings
Close and reopen FC
Toolbars are no longer locked

This is the issue I'm talking about. Please follow the above steps and let me know if you can duplicate this.

I think, it is the problem.
Try to make only one action on one toolbar and then restart FC.

OK, I can reproduce it, after creating favorite tools toolbar, I had to lock just favorite toolbar, restart FC, then unlocked both, restart and from now it's broken, unlocked every time.

Possibly some conflict.

Workaround - lock main toolbar and unlock favorites toolbar, then restart FC, after this I have both toolbars locked.

That's it. But it's definitely a bug. Both toolbars should have the handles removed when selecting the lock toolbars from one toolbar.

I was pretty sure I had reported this problem a long time ago and that its confirmation has been denied by other users - but right now I cannot find it on the forum; so here it goes:

For the longest time my multiple locked Favorite Toolbars sometimes were getting rearranged and / or truncated, to the point where it was easier / quicker for me to just load up saved Settings instead of trying to restore them manually to showing correctly all of their content

And then somewhere around 2023/2024 I finally gave up and just created one big Favorite Toolbar, which despite not being locked gave me zero issues so far i.e. it shows every of its item and stays exactly where it was put by me no matter what I do

I recon that this was caused by the fact that I have been using Winamp docked at the top of screen and / or Taskbar of Windows in vertical position on the left side plus

Menu Start > Settings > Ease Of Access > Display > Make everything bigger > Change the size of apps and text on the main display > 150%

Looks fixed for me, after several tests in 910, please confirm the fix.
