To Reproduce:
Select several files using left-click to select the first file in the select, and then shift-left-click on the final file in the selection
Note that the file count is correct at the bottom of the panel - For example: 4/18 Object(s) selected 219.98 MB (Free 181.86 GB)
Ctrl-left-click on an unselected file to start a continued selection then ctrl-shift-left-click at the end of the continued selection list to add files to the selection.
Note that the file count is now incorrect. The file count includes the number in the first selection + the first file in the continued selection rather than the first selection count + the number of files in the continued selection.

I can confirm this in Build 907 64-bit Donor Portable on Windows 10 Enterprise 20H2 x64 [10.0.19042]

But this bug can be evoked much easier: just use outright [on an empty space] CTRL + SHIFT + LEFT MOUSE BUTTON to select whatever number of items and then again to add even more of them: you will see the selection of items becoming correctly larger but the size of items displayed on the Status Bar will remain the same

What is interesting here is that the count of size is being performed always correctly as long as you draw selection area - but if you switch to merely clicking [i.e. without holding down of LMB while dragging the pointer] the Status Bar once more shows false info
