Settings Backup name adjustment

I propose changing the newly added possibility [in Build 893] to insert a description into Settings from [e.g.]

Bkp_Settings_XXXX_2023-08-16 11-52-55

into

Bkp_Settings_2023-08-16 11-52-55_XXXX

And as we are at it: why not

FreeCommander Settings Backup 2023-08-16 11_52_55 XXXX

all together for more readability and informativeness? No everyone keeps Settings of FC in the default location; and as for removing of the >>_<< sign- there already is a lack of it between date and time - and as you can see it should be used along with >>-<< to emphasize the difference between the wo sets of numbers

I agree with this change, to have all folders sorted by date and time.

I disagree, it's too long, so if using a window mode and/or multiple columns, date/custom text could be invisible.

BTW, I tried it now and for the the name is:

Code: Select all

"FC_Bak_Settings_test_2023-08-16 17-06-21"
I think it's OK, just the custom text could be at the end.
With or without "_", I think it's not so important, sorting by date would be broken, if it would be changed now.

Neither I, but I'm using some "Backup" folder for all programs and subfolder "FreeCommander", otherwise it would be really confusing, or even unusable to have hundred of backup folder and files in 1 folder.

I see your point - and somewhat agree with it

Oh come on: if you are FC user experienced enough to save and load backups - then should not you be capable of also using once a simple mass renaming via the Multi Rename feature?

Those backups are created also automatically, even normal users use it, but I didn't say I'm against the change, just that it's not so important for me, decision is on Marek.

I need the timestamp at the end for automatic backups (One per day, One per week).

So how about getting rid of the

Bkp_Settings_

entirely thus "moving" the date and timestamp to the beginning of folder's name?

I myself always keep backups of my config / settings / theme files or folder in a folder named config or settings or themes, so i do not need an indication like Backup Settings in every name

That is your personal opinion.
Searching a whole system for config backup files with a tool like Everything,
is much easier which long names, saying what is inside.

So how about putting them inside some indicators, that would mark theirs beginning and end? Something like

#2023-08-16 11_52_55#

or

@2023 08 16 11_52_55 |

?
