Is it necessary to have the Fccontextmenu64 task tray icon when right clicking files for context menu? Is there some way to stop it from appearing? TIA

I don't understand.
You can't invoke a context menu, if FC is not running and therefore shown in the taskbar.
Clicking a context menu doesn't show any additional FC icon.

Yes, using of the 64 bit FC version.

horst.epp - Please remember this is being posted in the public (not the donor) forum. It is becoming more apparent (as evidenced by several topics in this forum) there is more of a difference in the public vs donor versions than merely 32 vs 64 bit. Although I can't remember all of them at the moment, here is just 1 example recently discovered:

https://freecommander.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=13457 = Notice in the 4th post, Dreamer confirms: "I can reproduce it in 880 32-bit public, always. I can't reproduce it in 889 64-bit donor, never." Perhaps this is related to the 64 bit being a later version (889) compared to the 32 bit (880) - I have no way of knowing but it is definitely confirmed to be a difference. Just something to bear in mind - don't assume everything is always exactly the same between the versions.

Marek - Thank you for the correct answer.

Yes I can attest to those claims, having been for the longest time a user of 32-bit version and discovering disappearance of many issues after switching to 64-bit one
