I have noticed that in newer [which?] version when I grab items and drag them, then pointer changes its appearance to 1 of 2 icons: indicating either an action of movement or of copying

Can a user change these graphics, be it in Settings or in INI file or by replacing some ICO files in some FC folder?

Try to enable the option "Use blocking transfer" in Settings - File/folder operations - Drag&Drop.

You have misunderstood me: I like these indicators - but I want to change them to my personal taste, just like e.g. icons of elements on my Splitter

It's impossible.
