Two FC Questions
Two FC Questions
(1) Can I have certain folders show me icons (documents), but other folders of pics, show thumbnails--and do this by default, each time I open up that particular folder?
(2) Can I customize which folders sort their contents according to name, and which show their contents sorted by modified? I do want most files sorted by name, but there are some that I do like sorted by date modified.

Re: Two FC Questions
Hmmm here is what I have.
What I want is icons but quite a bit larger. I didn't see an Icons option in the View Type drop down list at the bottom.
Also, the icons are not arranged according to date.
What am I doing wrong? Or better, what can I do to get what I want?
I see I cannot add attachments, I uploaded screenshot to imgur, not sure what I need to do. Does this link work? https://imgur.com/a/psKXnm2

Re: Two FC Questions
To edit the size of icons right-click on the toolbar you want to edit and then click "Edit Toolbar".
There you also can add a lot of items, remove or re-arange them.
What do you mean by "according to date"? Is there any icon that is related to a date? Can't understand.

Re: Two FC Questions
No, the icons was a different issue.
When I say "arrange according to date," what I mean is that I want the files in a particular folder to be sorted by date, not by name.
The normal display/sort for folders is by name, and in most cases I'm fine with that. But this one folder, I prefer files sorted by the date they were composed/last modified.
As far as icons being bigger, I wasn't talking about the toolbar, but the icons of the files themselves.

Re: Two FC Questions
I don't understand why you want to have the icons of folders and files bigger.
They are accustomed to font size. You would have to increase font size to get the icons bigger.
For your other issue - sorting by date - read this thread.

Re: Two FC Questions
I tried the same and it was not working either, I'm not sure if it's a bug.
Try this Condition, exactly the same:
You can add also View type and other options, if needed.
For images you can use View type: "Thumbnails" even with the specific size 48 - 512. You can try the new Thumbnail labels views too.
For <Default view> add the options you want for other folders, View type, Sort on.
EDIT: Options available for "Sort on" are used from the column profiles, if you create a column profile for a specific folder, add the columns you need, e.g. also "Modified", then use the created column profile name in Auto Views - "Column profile" drop down menu, then you can use custom items for "Sort on".

Code: Select all
D:\Classes\Syllabus

Re: Two FC Questions
Yeah, I pasted your code in, and still nothing. Interesting, perhaps a bug as you said? I dunno. Thanks anyways for this.

Re: Two FC Questions
It should work, could you post a screenshot please?
It could be a conflict with another item, "Images", you could try to remove it temporary, or post a screenshot for that item, or try to move the item "Images" down.

Re: Two FC Questions
I posted a screenshot, both of the Settings dialog and of the FC window. I removed the Images item, and nothing changed.
As you can see from the folder view, the files are not arranged according to date modified.

Sorry about the delayed reply, been busy with work.

Re: Two FC Questions
Strange, could you click to Syllabus item and add screenshot from whole Settings window?
Re: Two FC Questions
You pointed me in the right direction. I thought I had checked this before, but I looked at the Syllbus settings and found that it was still not set to sort by date, but by name. I set the settings at the bottom, to sort by date, and all is well.
Man I'm sure I looked at that before, but I guess not.

Re: Two FC Questions
OK, now I still would like an Icon view as my default. I see how to have FC show a list view, or thumbnails. But how do I get icons (different for each file type)?
Dreamer, in your first reply you gave me a link. I didn't see in that page, how to set up an Icon view in my folders.

Re: Two FC Questions
Probably you didn't click to Syllabus item and you changed it for the other item, which was active, perhaps for "Default" or for "Images".
Regarding your question, what you mean by "icons (different for each file type)", could you explain it?
In Auto views tab, "<Default view>" set the view you want, perhaps List or Details?
Or you want "Large icons" view mode? If so, it's not listed in the Auto view - View type, so it can't be used now.
