subfolders of picture sdefault to details not thumb nails

hi all
"subfolders of pictures defaults to details not thumb nails"
my folder of "Pictures" is set to pictures and all sub folders, but only the top pictures directory shows the thumbnails on opening. none of the sub folders default to show thumbnails they start with detail view, i have to click thumbnails on the toolbar. I have checked all sub-folders the same setting, but of no use. Any ideas?
I do alot of photo stuff and like this corrected.
windows explorer and the my other file manager work correctly
