Quick filter stays when switching tabs
Quick filter stays when switching tabs
Single panel setup.
I apply a Quick Filter (Ctrl+Y) in a tab.
When I change to another tab the filter applied in the previous tab is ALSO applied to the other tab.
If I cycle to all open tabs the filter still is active in ALL TABS.
This behaviour is on purpose?
In the 770 release when you apply a filter to a tab, if you change to another tab the filter is clear. When you return to the original tab the filter is applied.
In the 840 release behaviour is the same of 861.
To my, the desired behavior would be the 770 or at least should be a option to the user to choose.
The option "Keep Filter on Change Tab" don't seems to make any difference, but I think what the purpuse of that option is another.
My setup: FreeCommander 32-bit Public 861 release. Windows 10 64 bits

Re: Quick filter stays when switching tabs
Confirmed, there is a problem.
Unselecting "Keep filter on tab change" isn't working.
The filter is still applied to any other tab whatever they have as path.

Re: Quick filter stays when switching tabs
I can not reproduce it with default settings.
Have you checked default settings too?

Re: Quick filter stays when switching tabs
I tested it with default settings but its still applying the filter across tabs.
It only works as expected if I switch off "Keep filter on folder change"
but this is not usefull at all.

Re: Quick filter stays when switching tabs
How I check it:
1. Unpack portable zip version in any folder (I have checked current 875 and 861)
2. Start FC
3. On the left site select c:\Windows (first tab)
4. Add new tab on the left site (Ctrl+T)
5. Change the path to c:\Windows\System32
6. Now on the left site we have two tabs with different paths
7. Select first tab and then type txt in quick filter field
8. Filter is applied to the first tab
9. Switch to the second tab -> filter is not applied
10. Switch back to the first tab -> filter is applied ( due to default setting "Keep filter on tab change" )
For me it is properly.
Keep filter on tab change
If this setting is checked, the set quick filter is used again, if after a change to another tab, the initial tab is reactivated.

Re: Quick filter stays when switching tabs
I can't reproduce it either, in 861 and 875.
Perhaps more exact steps would help, which panel is used, which way to activate quick filter, changing tab, mouse, keyboard?

I do this and works OK. Like you say.Marek wrote: ↑10.10.2022, 20:55 How I check it:

But in my usual install (portable) works as described in first post.
I'm using Freecommander from several years now... Always portable, replacing the .exe with new release.
So my .ini would contain values used for old versions not used anymore.
That could be the cause????
I know what the solution would be delete my .ini and start over... but I configured my FreeCommander with a lot of things and I don't want lose them if it is possible.
Re: Quick filter stays when switching tabs
Some other files are different too, so first try to replace all files from the portable folder - zip file.
You could also send the freecommander.ini file to Marek via email, here.

Re: Quick filter stays when switching tabs
Sorry for the double post...
I discover the culprit...
Was the
I was 0 in my setup.
Turning it to 1 do the trick.
That uncheck the option Keep Filter in Folder Change
I thinked what that option was to mantain the filter if you change the folder IN THE SAME TAB but looks like it affects the behaviour between tabs.
PD: I uncheck Keep Filter in Folder Change in the fresh install and repeat the behavior of filter in all Tabs. So it seems like a bug.

Re: Quick filter stays when switching tabs
I use a setup with just one detail pane but many tabs (similar to the new File Explorer in Windows 11).
In order NOT to keep the Quickfilter on when changing between tabs (with Alt+Tab), I had to deselect both settings here:

Re: Quick filter stays when switching tabs
If you disable "Keep filter on for folder change", it's not as you want it? This way it will be enable at tab where you enable it, but it will be disabled at other tabs.
