Paths longer than 255 characters

#1 Post by evi » 06.10.2022, 13:29

Where can I find the feature "Paths longer than 255 characters can be opened, copied, moved and renamed"?
Thanks!

So after reading the associated article I am still not any the wiser to the answer to the big question: With or without the below registry entry does FC support filenames and/or paths longer than 260 characters?

[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINESYSTEMCurrentControlSetControlFileSystem]
"LongPathsEnabled"=dword:00000001

Yes, FC itself does support file names longer than 259.
Tested with 7z archives with names longer than 300 chars on my system.
Windows 11 Home x64 Version 23H2 (OS Build 22631.3296)
Everything Version 1.5.0.1371a (x64), Everything Toolbar 1.3.2, Listary Pro 6.3.0.67
FreeCommander XE 2024 Build 905 64-bit donor

You do not need any registry changes.
Where can I find the feature "Paths longer than 255 characters can be opened, copied, moved and renamed"?
You do not need search for such feature. Simply you can use paths longer than 255 in FC.
