I am sure i am missing something I have a folder and subfolder with JPG files, i have another folder also with JPG files, I suspect that many on folder 1 are duplicates of some on folder 2

I select the teo folders Left and Right, then chose View plain view files, then folder compare, but it just reverts back to showing the folders again, i tried compare initially with the folders before expanding them but nothing happened

help would be greatly appreciated thanks

In the actual FC version its easy.
Left and right side in the starting dirs
Menu Folder / Synchronize
Fill out your criteria and hit the Compare button.

Btw. why don't you upgrade to a newer FC version ?

Clicking on synchronise to do a comparison is scary, I wouldn’t know what that would do, it could have messed up my folders, I don’t want them synchronised. Seems an odd step Tom get to get to compare. I could upgrade, but like all such utility programs, I only use them once in a blue moon.

It doesn't do anything automatically
and you can change what to do on the compare results.
Its a simple and reliable way to compare folder contents.
You can of course also use a free tool like WinMerge and add it as a FC favorite.

Yes I know that now….but so often a button is provided which says some command, and just does it, other times it may have a box with options…..that’s why I’m reluctant to click on something, that I’m not sure of the reaction…..thank you
