Hi Marek! First - thank you for this STELLAR program! I'm able to use it, to set up my 'ultimate' link/file/folder access system across all my content etc. locations, better than *anything* I've ever tried (for a LONG time!).
I have an issue (on my Win10 laptop) - I'd like to create a text file, eg. gothere.txt, with a link such as this:
file:///C:/Users/moi/!shared/mydir/
The idea is that when I preview gothere.txt, the link above would be clickable, and will take me there. But, the link that is clickable becomes
file:///C:/Users/moi/, ie. the ! prevents itself and the rest of the path to be included in the link, like so: https://imgur.com/gzY3XcJ
I tried escaping the ! using \, \\, etc. But nothing I tried, worked...
Is there a way to solve this?
In the worst case, I can have Explorer take me part-way, and I can double-click on the rest myself - but I thought I'd ask if I'm missing the proper way.
Cheers,
Saty
Exclamation point in a filepath causes incorrect link to be displayed in file preview
Re: Exclamation point in a filepath causes incorrect link to be displayed in file preview
I just used Shortcut entry from the New sub-menu ofthe right click menu evoked from both Desktop and when using FreeCommander from folder C:\Users\YOUR-USER-NAME\Desktop- and the result was an A-OK working file [i.e. when clicked it was opening C:\Users\moi\!shared\mydir folder in Windows Explorer]
I am using version 861 32-bit public on Windows 10 Enterprise 20H2 19042.746 x64

No workaround but I have fixed it for the next release.I tried escaping the ! using \, \\, etc. But nothing I tried, worked...

Re: Exclamation point in a filepath causes incorrect link to be displayed in file preview
Thank you so much for this! I happened to have an older version, I installed the latest one after reading your reply. BUT the issue still persists - in TEXT preview mode. In the new version, .txt was set to be viewed as .rtf, THAT IS WHAT WORKS! So I went back to my older version, tried the same (set .txt to be previewed as rtf), that works in my older version too...
Summary: A file:/// link that contains a !, works properly in rtf (but not plaintext) viewing mode.

I mean really next release and not the current one.
The next release will be 873 in few days.

Eee...
So what was the problem? I had missed the in file preview - but still I can view this file in both View [F3] feature and through Quick View
