Zipping files not working

Wow, I haven't been on this forum for a long time. Thanks for an awesome program, I've been using FreeCommander daily for at least the past 15 years.
To the problem, I just purchased a Dell Inspirion 16 Plus with Windows 11. I installed the standard exe version 865 (I've been using the portable version for a number of years now) got all my settings to my liking. When I needed to create a zip file it didn't work the way I'm used to. After selecting files, and then the Pack command, the Target field is empty. Normally, it gets automatically populated. Figuring I must have a setting wrong, I click on the Configure button in the Pack Dialog, but that doesn't do anything. If I type the zip file name I want, then it works.
I installed the portable version and everything works the way it's supposed to. Is there a bug in exe installer version, or am I doing something wrong?
P.S. I forgot to say that I did an uninstall and reinstall, and tested this with no setting changes and it still didn't work.
