Vista FC view in List selection region - how to shrink?

I have tuned my Vista for performance, thus all the visual eye candies are gone. It does solve my problems with "double click and go back one level" when I have 'high level visual theme' in Vista.

Situation:
When using FC with default visual theme (Aero) of Vista, I will not be able to double click (to go back one level) on 'empty' space at the right of the filename, in fact, they will be selected/detected as if you're clicking on the file. It is called 'sensitivity XXX something' if I am not mistaken. (Which is not available in XP) (In this situation, I have to click on the empty region at the very bottom of FC, the 'thin blank space', sometime I even have to resize my FC abit, due to I'm not in maximized mode, to get that 'empty double clickable region)

However, when I have tuned my Vista with tuneup utilities, which strips every eye candies off the UI, it also solve the problem above. Now I can double click right beside the filenames (as long as you're not above the 'filename') and go up one level.

Request:
I hope that someone can shed lights upon what was the setting to deal with these. Thanks a lot.

History:
Was a user from XP, and recently switched to Vista, still can't locate another explorer replacement that can beat FC's double-click back one level awesomeness.
