"Multi rename" renames JPEG files incorrectly to [exif_taken] if the time in [exif_taken] JPEG field is between midnight and 1 AM. For example, time 00-36-51 causes this. The "New name" field in "Multi rename" is just ".jpg" even though photos before and after are correctly renamed (like "2021-07-10 13-41-39.jpg").
My time zone is "Europe/Prague" (CEST) for both - when the photo was taken and where my PC is.

Build 840 32-bit public
Windows 10

I can't confirm, with the files from many different cameras/smartphones, always work good here, with the version 850 donor and 840 public.

Perhaps the problem is with the camera/smartphone, some samples would help, if possible.
