To reproduce:
- use default settings
- use dark grey flat default color scheme
- create the shortcut - .lnk files for some transparent gif images
- use the same path in both panels
- switch to thumbnails view
= background for .lnk thumbnails is wrong in inactive panel (active panel color is used)

Gif thumbails are OK in he same folder.
- now open new FC instance
- move all files, gif and lnk to subfolder 1
- move all files back
- in the first instance all thumbnails are OK now
- switch panel in the first instance, press Tab
= thumbnails for lnk files are broken in both panels now.
FC 843 and 842 donor 64-bit, Windows 10 20H2 64-bit.

8441 - not fixed.

I think, its only lnk files.
I have no solution for lnk files. If I copy lnk in other folder then the thumb is ok.
I do not know why sometimes the background is wrong.

I think the problem is, that if the panel is changed (with Tab), background for lnk thumbnails is not updated, if I press Ctrl+R, background is fixed for active panel, but after changing to other panel - Tab, it's broken again - color from active panel is used, not from inactive panel.

BTW It's not just lnk files, also txt thumbnails, here it a similar bug:
