All toolbar buttons in Search dialog are unusable if the item list it empty, so perhaps they should be greyed-out - also menu items.

Or even whole panel with results could be hidden before searching.

EDIT: Buttons and menu items which can't be used if any item is selected/focused, or .. item is focused, are also in the main FC window toolbar and menu, e.g. Cut, Copy...

These buttons are greyed-out in Windows Explorer.

Still the same in 848, except some toolbar buttons, it was fixed partially.

If the [..] item is focused, toolbar/splitter buttons should be greyed-out, e.g.: cut, copy, paste, delete, edit, copy to, move to.
