840 - Some characters not available for searching in Quick Starter

FC Version 840 Donor 64bit Win7
Some characters will not work in the Quick Starter quick filter field. An example is the colon character (:).
An odd workaround is to disable quick the filter field and then re-enable it.

you're correct
BUT the semi-colon (:) is an illegal character for file/folder names so I guess it's more a feature than a bug

It might be a language difference... I've always referred to this character : as a colon, not a semi-colon. Yes, the colon is used after a drive letter, and not within a filename itself (in Windows). Semicolons (;), on the other hand, can be used within filenames.
In either case, the issue is present in the Quick Search UI's quick filter input field, which searches descriptive text, and not filenames. That descriptive text can include any character, including colons and semicolons.

you're correct again, of course it's colon : (I'm not native English!)
and it doesn't surprise me that colon doesn't work in Quick starter search field

just for interest: in which case do you need to search for illegal filename characters (i.e. colon

in Quick filter?

The Quick Starter UI has a quick filter input field. Just as an example, to make it easy to switch to C:\ in a FC pane, one my Quick Starter items is named C:\. Thus, if I enter C: into the Quick Starter quick filter input field (that's quite an ensemble of words!), it should go to C:\. But because of the bug, it shows all Quick Starter items that contain the letter C.
I also use characters such as the asterisk (*) to prefix some of the names of Quick Starter items, and the same bug interferes with using the quick filter input field to find all those items.

I have no problem with colon (:), works fine.
Semicolon (;) does not work - is used as separator for multiple filter.
* and ? are filter characters so you can not find name with * or ?.

omg, @Marek the colon (:) really works in the quick filter field of Quick starter
but it works differently than the 'normal' characters.
if I launch Quick starter I usually just start typing to activate the quick filter field - that's brilliant and intuitive.
if I want to use the colon character I first have to click into the quick filter field - not so brilliant IMO.

I have the same experience. Also, you can toggle the quick filter off and then on in order to get colon (:) to work.
