Is there an anticipated development schedule at this time?

#1 Post by Bearded Kirklander » 11.08.2008, 13:21

I was wondering about the current development schedule for FreeCommander.

It appears that our main fave programmer dude does the coding on this app solo, is that correct? If so, I would think it might put some stress in the mix when trying to maintain a rapid coding turn-around.

As of very recently, there appear to be a few "Show Stopper" bugs related to sorting at the very least, and perhaps file selection inconsistencies.

My inquiry is, will the author have enough time to seek out and squash those bugs / inconsistencies fairly quickly? Or will development stretch out a bit longer due to commitments outside of the FreeCommander project?

I feel somewhat responsible for some of the sorting issues, as some of the recent changes made in terms of sorting directories / folders with an extension were requests I proffered forth as fairly important functionality. So it is in working on that code that may have compromised some of the other sorting supported by this fine product.

I do hope that the development schedule, at least for these bug fixes, will be able to move along at a speedy pace, but don't want to make any assumptions and have any unrealistic expectations.

I really, really like this product and want it to rise to the very top of the heap when folks are looking for a great file management app, but don't want to transition from basic "cheer leading" to "becoming a nag". :)

Thanks

Still no response to this question, so I thought I would try asking one more time here in the forums.

If it is preferred that I email instead of posting the question on the forums, I hope that someone can make me aware of that.

Thanks

I can only say as a long time user of fc that Marek - indeed the only programmer - is making constantly new beta versions and 2 official versions a year. If you look at the history you will see what i mean....

And reported bugs are closed very fast - sometimes after only one day (of cause only in the betas). I have never seen this quick response time with other software (despite the fact that fc is freeware)

So i think you can be very confident that Marek will have a look also into your bugs...

I have faith in him - truly. I was just wondering if bringing up a bunch of feature reqeusts and what not was bad timing right now.

I really love how the program has improved, and I guess I get a little geeked up and impatient. Just wanted to make sure I wasn't overdoing it.
