This is a quirky one:

This works:
1. Open FC with fresh settings. The view will be in list view.
2. Go to Select items in the settings.
3. Enable hot track only.
4. Set the time to 100ms.
5. Hot tracking works.

Now for the bug:
1. Open FC with fresh settings. The view will be in list view.
2. Switch to any size thumbnail view.
2. Go to Select items in the settings.
3. Enable hot track only.
4. Set the time to 100ms.
5. Hot tracking not working.
6. Now if you switch back to list view.
7. Open the settings dialog and DO NOT do anything.
8. Click ok.
9. Hot tracking now works again.

Tested in the latest build on Win 10.

Confirmed with 828 64-bit donor, Windows 10 2004 64-bit.

Hot track is disabled now in thumbnail view.
If the hot track is active you can use Shift or Ctrl key for selecting files.
Selection with Shift in thumbnail view does not work corectly and I can not find the reason.
If someone still wants to activate hot track, they have to change the following line in the [Form] section of the freecommander.ini:
HotTrackInThumbViewAllowed=0

The line must be changed to
HotTrackInThumbViewAllowed=1

Will that ini setting be exposed in the s ui ettings in upcoming versions of FC Marek or will it always be hidden?

I would say, so long I do not have proper solution only the ini file.
