open folder from context menu

I have 2 folders on my desktop.
"a" and "a.b"
when I open "a" by right-clicking on it and selecting "FreeCommander" from the desktop-context-menu, FreeCommander opens at "a" and shows me it's contents.
however, when I open "a.b" it opens the folder's parent i.e. the Desktop folder.
It seems like as soon as there is a '.' in the folder-name fc "browses" it like a file.
