Ok, so one problem is that you can't just specify a software name under the "Program" field. You have to specify the whole path to the executable (e.g. "X:\My\Path\To\PDFV_Portable\PDFXCview.exe").

The other problem is that you have to specify the extension of the files you want to open with that default program, otherwise (your example) only files named "PDF" will be opened with that program. So, under the "Filter" field, you'll have to write "*.pdf", which means any PDF file (any file with pdf extension).

Note: skip the commas from my examples (just take a look at my screenshot above).

I have had troubles with getting PDF quickview to work with FC X64. Just recently I did eventually get it to work but I had to do several things based on suggestions in other threads. YMMV but here is what I did in case it helps anyone.

(background) On my system, Free Commander XE x64 build 673 is installed in C:\Program Files\FreeCommanderXE64

a) uninstalled Adobe Acrobat Reader

b) uninstalled latest Sumatra PDF Reader 3.0 that I go from here (http://blog.kowalczyk.info/software/sum ... iewer.html) - couldn't make this work with quickview properly

c) downloaded slister 1.1.2 x64 version from here: http://www.totalcmd.net/plugring/slister.html ( http://wincmd.ru/files/wlx64_sLister_1.1.2.zip )

d) extracted files from wlx64_sLister_1.1.2.zip into directory C:\Program Files\FreeCommanderXE64\plugins\slister64

e) added slister as new plugin in FC Settings/View/Viewer/Plugins tab

f) double-clicked on C:\Program Files\FreeCommanderXE64\plugins\slister64\SumatraPDF.exe, then selected Settings/Options from the menu, and enabled "SumatraPDF is your default PDF reader" (this is the only way my Windows 7 system would recognize the change), then exited SumatraPDF reader

g) Opened a DOS prompt and ran command 'assoc .pdf' to find out what is the text string associated with .pdf files (SumatraPDF in my case):
c:\>assoc .pdf
.pdf=SumatraPDF

h) the toughest problem was that when I activated quickview in FC, then I kept getting a popup message, "Do you want to download or save this file?". This seems to be related to Internet Explorer behavior. To disable this prompt, I used Registry Editor to add a new REG_BINARY value called "SumatraPDF" (value I got from the assoc command in the previous step) to this key:

i) Now I can view PDF files 'inline' in FC using quickview
