I'm new to this forum & this is my first posting.
I recently acquired a new camcorder which gives each clip a unique but meaningless number for its name. All I wish to do is to get numbers,12364,98626,gu67j etc renames into something which means something. I wish to end up with names like beach trip1, beach trip 2, beach trip 3 etc. Even the original extension m2ts can stay the same.
Every time I try entering data to try to achieve this I either get the original number along with my new name or else the program accepts the first name in green & changes it but leaves all of the rest unchanged & in red. I think that I have tried most combination's of trying to achieve this but I'm still having it happen. What am I doing wrong? I suspect that what I'm trying to do is the simplest of all changes that this program is capable of.
Thanks in advance

Re: A newbie can't do multiple rename
Hi,
to learn how it works you can download a tutorial for renaming at: http://www.freecommander.com/fc_guide_en.htm (5. Multi Rename (download PDF file))
I think filename-entry "beach trip[c]" in multirename dialog will solve your problem.

Re: A newbie can't do multiple rename
Thanks for that information. I finally have the rename function working.
The only problem that I now have are the thumbnails, not all of them are being displayed. If I click on a folder that had m2ts video files I can get to see only about 95% of the clips with thumbnails, the rest are just blank but if I click on these blank thumbnails spaces the file open OK & my video plays OK.
If I go to Windows Explorer & select the same folder then I get to see 100% of files thumbnails What I can't work out is why FreeCommander isn't displaying all thumbnails. Any ideas?
