You have a 1920x1200 screen, it seems.JohnFredC wrote:And here is mine, showing the descender truncation in the tab text:
It's a very comprehensive and functional layout, that is for sure.
Are those Develop and Graphics icons actually links to specific layouts?
Also, that icon on the far upper right - looks like torn paper - could you let me know what that is? I don't think I've seen it before.
Thanks, and nice color scheme on your interface. Must make it easy on the eyes.
Back when I began my career in IT (1982), of course we were using CRTs, and a co-worker once pointed out that a CRT is really just a light bulb and had I ever considered how we spent our entire day staring at light bulbs and typing.
I really took that to heart and though now there are LCD displays instead of CRTs, I still try to employ color schemes that reduce the "light bulb" effect...
The toolbars on the upper right are for applications and that icon is for FreeCommander's "Split File" function.
My display is a 24". Have my eye on a 30" sometime soon.
Size matters.

I hear ya. I had two 21" CRT's that did 2048x1536x75hz but ran them in 1920x1440, then 1856x1392 and finally 1792x1344 as my eyesight got a bit worse of the years.JohnFredC wrote:Back when I began my career in IT (1982), of course we were using CRTs, and a co-worker once pointed out that a CRT is really just a light bulb and had I ever considered how we spent our entire day staring at light bulbs and typing.

After my last eye exam about a year + ago, I made the move to LCD's.
I have FOUR 20.1" LCD's that run at 1600x1200 native. Two Viewsonic VP2030b, a Samsung 204b and one HP LP2065.
The pixel density is very good and I like the consistency across all the LCD's. 1600x1200 on a 20.1" LCD is sort of like running 1600x1200 on a 21" CRT because the CRT actually had a 20" visible screen area.
I like 4:3 and the pixel density in a 24" 1920x1200 is not quite enough for me. The Apple 23" Cinema LCD (at like $999) is 1920x1200 and has improved pixel density, but it is just too much money for me. I bought two Viewsonic VP2030b for less than that.
Anyway, thanks for sharing your screen shot.
I think it's cool how you had a thumbnail so as to not overwhelm the forum interface and can then click on it to get the full size pic. Nicely done.
I have a portable installation on my flashdrive. Therefore I tend to have various layouts configured to match different screen resolutions (obviously due to different sized screens on different PCs). Anyway here is a screen cap that I posted in the "share your ini" thread.

phool,
You can do a nice thing for yourself and your HDD today...
Zip all of those $NtUninstall.* folders into one archive. I call mine NtUninstall_{MachineName}.zip
Then, defragalate that thing and let me know how she likes it
(BTW, that is something that I do to every machine that I touch and the response is always like "Wow!!" or "WTF did you do to this thing???")
It really is the little things

Then test that archive (make sure that it is not somehow corrupted - you never know.)
Then, delete the other $NtUninstall folders that you just zipped up.
FWIW, I have never needed to uninstall a hotfix or windows update (which is what those folders are for - backups of pre-update files). But... Microsoft explicitly states that if you delete these folders without doing a backup first, that you will be cake-faced if you need to roll back at some point.
My fc layout on bigger monitor (1900 x 1200)
I have a few layouts, but on each layout I start with the same tabs on both sides. All the layouts have several tabs on both sides except one minimal layout "C:C:" which just has 1 tab on each side.

And here's the legend for the above picture:
1. Set the filter (requires autoit script to emulate keystrokes Folder -> Filter -> etc)
2. Set custom columns (requires autoit script to emulate keystrokes View -> Custom Columns -> etc)
3,6,7. Some internal commands with (custom icons I drew) and some external commands (AutoIT script + icon). All tab move/copy related.
4,5,8,10,13. Folder shortcuts (I used and AutoIt script so that they would open in a new tab
9, 11. Toolbar with submenus, external tools
12. Set the layout (requires autoit script to emulate keystrokes View -> Layout -> etc)
14. Set the split (internal commands with icons I drew)
AutoIT scripts I use to automate some FC funtions (3 icons, block 10 in picture):
Left icon: Create folder on other side with the same name as the parent folder in this side
Middle icon: Calculate folder size for current folder
Right icon: Duplicate file (simply copies file, but also renames the copy to "<filename> --copy--")

I hope Marek has the time. There are some preferences I too would like to see implemented that I have not heard back about yet.
I get kind of geeked up about the upcoming versions and the changes to come. I try to be patient, but it's hard when you are such a fan of the program.
I'm like you - I get geeked up too. But I do have to realize he is likely immensely busy and being patient is the best course.
Enjoy the app. It really is a great program.
