I read somewhere in this group that I can change the icon displayed in the task bar from the "Compass" icon to one of the three FC icons by changing this line in the FreeCommander.ini file:-
fcIconNr=1
to 2, 3 or 4
However, when I do this there is no change - the compass icon remains, even after reloading FC and after a computer reboot.
What else can I do?
Cheers ............

What version of Windows, Vista? If so, maybe you have more than one ini file and you are editing the wrong one. (Thank you, Microsoft...) It should work. I have Windows XP, which is less obnoxious in its ways, but my FC is not installed in "Program Files". That saves me a lot of hassles with other programs too.
I like the compass

You are a marvel! SPOT ON!!

- I forgot that I had relocated the .ini file to another folder where I keep a lot of things that I back up every night and I was editing the one in the "Program Files/FreeCommander" folder
All OK now!
I must be getting too old for this sort of thing!!

I don't mind the compass but it is too much like another program's icon that I use.
Many thanks ........

Yep! - 3 years past the biblical "use by" date of "three score years and ten"!
