Search using date limits doesn't work

I was looking for jpg files that fall within date limits for when they were created. Freecommander simply says it found nothing, although I know I have many jpg within those limits. I tried changing the limits - no effect, and then I removed the date limits and just looked for jpg, and that worked. So, it seems that setting date limits doesn't work. I tried just limiting the age (older than 5 years) and that worked.

I think I discovered the problem. FreeCommander doesn't find exif information, so it doesn't know when the file was created with jpg. Is that it? If so, I'll just quit trying.
