Portable version is unable to use Total7zip.wcx [SOLVED]

#1 Post by Forez » 21.03.2023, 21:17

Afer switching from using Build 880 32-bit Public to version 885 64-bit Donor Portable I keep getting pop-up window telling me
Can not load plugin "C:\q\FreeCommander\Plugins\wcx\Total7zip\Total7zip.wcx"
despite having imported the same set of setting from the previous version. Of course I have double checked if I do have that Total7zip.wcx file. I have even copied it from the still installed version, compared side by side

Tools > Settings > Archiver plugins

options to make sure hey are the same and also later on changed them to use

C:\q\FreeCommander\Plugins\wcx\Total7zip\Total7zip.wcx

path instead of

%FCSrcPath%\Plugins\wcx\Total7zip\Total7zip.wcx

But I still get the same errors

I went and grabbed https://github.com/danpeig/freecommande ... s/main.zip and installed it, removing first the Plugins folder

And only after installing and testing it have I checked if the file was already in it. And if I maybe already had that ZIP in folder with my various FC install files. Good thinking - its a pity it was only afterwards

Is there anything else you can think of I should change now? There are any features in FC that I either do not use at all or very rarely

There should be a topic like this https://freecommander.com/forum/viewtopic.php?p=40541 pinned somewhere at the top, with set of instructions for people going from using x86 to x64 and from installed to portable

Viewer / lister plugins need .wlx64 too.

I think also VLC needs 64-bit version, when using as internal multimedia player.

Here it another example of what unexpected side effect of going x64 can manifest as: https://freecommander.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=13358

It seems I did not have to change thing, as I can turn on the Quick Viewer and go thorough raster, video and PDF files

Viewer has a support for most file types, including internal PDF viewer, you can try to disable all plugins and try again.

The viewer doesn't have support for archives
so you can't browse inside of any archives which are supported by Total7zip.

There is no problem to add the x64 version of Total7zip to an x64 FC.
Windows 11 Home x64 Version 23H2 (OS Build 22631.3296)
Everything Version 1.5.0.1371a (x64), Everything Toolbar 1.3.2, Listary Pro 6.3.0.67
FreeCommander XE 2024 Build 905 64-bit donor
