Hi,
i will compare 2 textfiles. Therefore i've downloaded the latest WINMERGE-Version (0.2011.007.444, 64bit). After that, i've configured in the settings (Programs, Compare Files) Winmerge as following: C:\Program Files\WinMerge\WinMergeU.exe /e %FileCompare1% %FileCompare2%. When i try to compare now 2 files, (i'll mark the 2 files in seperate tabs), all i'll get is the following error (in german): "Bitte ein Programm definieren: Einstellungen -> Programme -> Dateien vergleichen" (english translateion: "Please define a program: settings -> Programms -> Compare files").
My System: Windows 7 64bit, FreeCommander XE2017 Build 762 64bit, WinMerge 0.2011.007.444, 64bit

Select checkbox in 'Filter' field to activate WinMerge use
Set app extension, for example *.rtf;*.docx;*.docm;*.xlsx;*.xlsm;*.pptx;*.pptm;*.doc;*.xls;*.ppt;*.sxw;*.sxc;*.sxi;*.sxd;*.odt;*.ods;*.odp;*.odg;*.wj2;*.wj3;*.wk3;*.wk4;*.123;*.wri;*.pdf;*.mht;*.eml;*.dll;*.exe
or set * for all types of extensions
Program:
C:\Program Files\WinMerge\WinMergeU.exe
Parameters:
%FileCompare1% %FileCompare2%
Works for me without any problems

This works for me, but I like to use the "Favorite Tools" option for launching external apps. I suspect WinMerge (or any Diff utility) can be configured to work from there as well.
Try this:
https://1drv.ms/u/s!Av4deDifjtmFgdoLULf ... Q?e=NSGPkT
(sorry. i don't rembr how to make the [img] bbcode work)
For the parameters field, where the `/r` flag tells winmerge to compare /Recursively
/r %ActivDir% %InactivDir%
I discovered this whilst researching WinMerge command line options. In the WinMerge support forum, someone was trying to use the /am flag. That, unfortunately I wasn't able to figure out how to setup.
They were using this as their command (ENV Vars, mine for the example). I don't understand how that's supposed to work, unfortunately.
"C:\Program Files\WinMerge\WinMergeU.exe" /r leftpath %HOMEPATH% rightpath %ALLUSERS% /am
If you come up w/ anything, please advise. But, it's not important at this moment. I just wanted to share this as an alternative means of launching a Diff utility from FreeCommander.
Cheers!
