Under the
Tools > View > Items color > Colors by attributes and timestamp
Tools > View > Items color > Colors by file type
users are able to distinguish files, right? But are they able to see, other than by looking at the Address Bar, in what location they are when navigating in one of the Panels?
Well, there is also the name of the Tab available after right clicking it at
Properties > Tab name
but looking at is the same as reading the path from Address Bar - except of course when a user decides to limit the number of character for Tabs or even renames it, which is [most likely] the way how most users operate. There is also the
Properties > Color
but it is for an individual Tab and thus those colors are not carried over to other folders when a user navigates within that Tab
And so I propose adding some way of making it visually clear to a user just which folder [of special interest] FreeCommander is showing in a given Panel. My proposition are:
A] Adding
Tools > View > Items color > Colors by [main] folders name
and / or
Tools > View > Items color > Colors by path
which would affect how names of files are displayed
B] Moving
Tools > View > Status bar > Color
to a newly created
Tools > View > Status Bar > Colors > Default
and adding something like
Tools > View > Status Bar > Colors > Custom [Ones]
where users could add multiple folder names and / or paths, alike to those two lists located at
Tools > View > Items color >
C] Adding to
Tools > View > File/folder list > Color/Font
something like
Tools > View > File/folder list> Custom
thus also allowing [like proposed in the previous point] for adding of multiple folder names and / or paths
All in all what I would like to be able to do is to have some sort of a not-possible-to-miss visual aid / indicator when e.g. I start in folder
D:\Music
then go within the same Tab to
C:\Music
but later on I open another Tab with
E:\Music
and navigate in it to
D:\Music New
and then switch to the other Panel where I open
D:\Music
and navigate in it to
D:\Music\New
and so on, multiple times during my workflow
[This example is largely exaggerated as my folders do not have such similar names and locations - but nevertheless during my workflow I do make mistakes on the account of e.g. pasting an audio file to a supposedly "proper" sub-folder which in reality is in a wrong main folder]
And what I do not need [i.e. I do not advocate for herein] is an ability to highlight [or mark in whatever way] a file named e.g. "Song" or with extension of "FLAC" located anywhere or in a particular folder
A need to distinguish with colors content of folders and path or location
Re: A need to distinguish with colors content of folders and path or location
Well, won't anyone vow support for my idea?
