Under the
Tools > Settings > Viewer > Quick Viewer [BUTTON] > Multimedia [TAB] > Media > Interface >
a user can choose either
- MCI
- Windows Media Player 6.0
- Windows Media Player 9.0
- VLC Player (must be installed)
as the go-to player for files selected in FreeCommander when the feature Viewer [F3] or Quick Viewer [CTRL + Q] is activated - assuming that these files are on the list available at
Tools > Settings > Viewer > Viewer [BUTTON] > General [TAB] > as Media
Tools > Settings > Viewer > Quick Viewer [BUTTON] > General [TAB] > as Media
Although I suspect why this list of players is limited [because every new entry would require a lot of implementing of third party software into FreeCommander] - I do not understand just why is a user forced to use one player for both audio and video files?
I myself use Winamp and Media Player Classic- first one strictly for audio, and the second for video and only for audio when I test something; and other players also serve as [very rarely used] video and audio testers. But my both go-to players were adjusted in various ways accordingly to their main function [i.e. associated file formats]. And so other users might have done the same for e.g. Windows Media Player 9.0 and VLC
And so I propose taking such possible split into consideration - and rework the aforementioned feature into either
Tools > Settings > Viewer > Quick Viewer [BUTTON] > Multimedia [TAB] > Media > Interface > Audio
Tools > Settings > Viewer > Quick Viewer [BUTTON] > Multimedia [TAB] > Media > Interface > Video
or
Tools > Settings > Viewer > Quick Viewer [BUTTON] > Multimedia [TAB] > Media > Interface > Audio
Tools > Settings > Viewer > Quick Viewer [BUTTON] > Multimedia [TAB] > Media > Interface > Audio & Video
Tools > Settings > Viewer > Quick Viewer [BUTTON] > Multimedia [TAB] > Media > Interface > Video
but in that second case allowing of course for choosing either separately of Audio and Video or just Audio & Video. In both cases however the check-box option Auto-start playback should be applicable to every entry separately [because some user for example might want / be able to auto-start music but not video]
If however this split is implemented, then also it will have to be accounted for under the
Tools > Settings > Viewer > Viewer [BUTTON] > General [TAB] > as Media
Tools > Settings > Viewer > Quick Viewer [BUTTON] > General [TAB] > as Media
by replacing it with
Tools > Settings > Viewer > Viewer [BUTTON] > General [TAB] > as Audio
Tools > Settings > Viewer > Viewer [BUTTON] > General [TAB] > as Video
Tools > Settings > Viewer > Quick Viewer [BUTTON] > General [TAB] > as Audio
Tools > Settings > Viewer > Quick Viewer [BUTTON] > General [TAB] > as Video
separate lists of file formats - but not with
Tools > Settings > Viewer > Viewer [BUTTON] > General [TAB] > as Audio & Video
Tools > Settings > Viewer > Quick Viewer [BUTTON] > General [TAB] > as Audio & Video
as in both cases each Interface can be redirected accordingly without action / configuration needed from a user
Split one Media Interface [player] of Viewer / Quick Viewer feature into two seperate audio and video [players]
