Before I describe my issue I want to say I've used FreeCommander for years and I think it is a marvelous piece of software. I'm
often finding new ways to use it. Thanks for making it so useful.
Either I have found a bug in FreeCommander Build 852 Donor or I misunderstand how one part works. I am running Win 10 Ver 21H1 64 Bit Build 19043.1151. I have a directory structure Drive/Photos/Years/Months/PhotoShoots/Pics. The Pics level only contains .JPG, .ARW (Sony Raw files), and .xmp files, The xmp files are created by Photoshop when a raw file is processed. I realized I have not been deleting .xmp files at the Pics Level when they were no longer needed. So I selected a Month level directory, and clicked on the icon for structureless view for files (which displayed about 500 .ARW, .JPG, and .xmp files as expected. I then used the Inverse quick filter to display the .xmp files, which displayed about 30 .xmp files, also as expected. I then selected all the .xmp files (ctrl A) and tried to permanently delete them. I got the dialog box asking if I was sure, I clicked yes, and then got a dialog saying "Could not find this item". The try again button just reopened the dialog. The dialog also has the statement "This is no longer located in Drive/Photos/Years.
If I select only one of the displayed .xmp files it deletes properly.
I think I've used this process before to delete multiple files. I can, of course, delete them individually but that requires two mouse moves and clicks, which is a pain for probably hundreds of files.

File deletion issue
Re: File deletion issue
How do you delete the files
- context menu?
- hot key ?
- menu item?
Which delete method is set in settings "Use Windows" or "Use FreeCommander"?

Re: File deletion issue
Hi Marek,
I am deleting with the menu item. The delete method in setting was set to "Use Windows". I also tried setting the delete method to "Use FreeCommander" and I got the same result. I will try to post a screen capture of an example and the dialog box I get.

Re: File deletion issue
I can not reproduce it.
Could you try it with default settings, use simply the portable version http://freecommander.com/en/faq-freecom ... l-portable.

Re: File deletion issue
I don't know if this is related to the problem.
There is a Windoews limit of how many files you can select from a context menu.
This can be extended but should be used with care.

Re: File deletion issue
I downloaded the portable version, set up a similar file structure, tried to delete as before, and got the same error.
I've added a screen shot showing the file structure. In this case I'm trying to delete all .jpg files under the Temp Directory.
It finds them correctly but won't delete them.
There is a relatively easy workaround, so if few others are having this problem it may not be worth finding and fixing.
Once the files to be deleted are found (which works fine), I just copy them to an empty temp directory and delete them.

Re: File deletion issue
Here is the folder structure how I test it:
I can delete all files from the list without problem.
Re: File deletion issue
There must be something incorrect about the way I'm doing the delete or my system has some strange setting. Thanks for trying to resolve this. Since no one else has reported it, and it works for you, the problem must be at my end. I have an easy workaround so I think neither of us should spend any more time on it. I do appreciate your efforts and apologize for wasting your time.
