feature request: save Plain view mode accross FC sessions
feature request: save Plain view mode accross FC sessions
Currently, if Plain view is enabled, and FC is restarted, Plain view mode is reset to its default value (default value is off).
Could FC be extended with an option to save Plain view so its view mode (plain view on or off) is saved and when FC is restarted view mode is loaded from last setting.
Thanks,

It works for locked tabs.
Re: feature request: save Plain view mode accross FC sessions
Please also save Plain view settings without using locked tabs (meaning: actually always save/retrieve plain view settings when exiting/starting FC)

If it will be added, than as option only.
I think the current behavior is good, just right click the tab and select "Lock folder tab", you can lock any tabs and the plain view will be preserved for these.

Before it will be me who will start going through Settings:
please try to use the Build 770 32-bit public version, as I in it I can have a tab that is not locked, impose on it the CTRL + B mode, see it sustained after switching to some other tab and coming back to that first one - and then close the FC, re-open it and still have that not-locked tab in the CTRL + B mode;
or try adding the icon for that function on the Splitter and close and the re-open FC with that icon being turned on [as maybe it is this what allows me for retaining that mode in between sessions of FC]

In my FC this works for all tabs

Re: feature request: save Plain view mode accross FC sessions
OK, with default settings (813), just one tab opened per panel, when I enabled plain view for both panels, after FC restart plain view is preserved for right panel only, weird.
Now I tried with my settings (813), I'm using layouts - non-locked tabs and the plain view is preserved for both panels, strange.
With 810a public 32-bit I have the same problem, plain view is preserved only for right panel, not for left panel.
Something is broken here, needs more testing...
EDIT: OK, I tried to lock the tabs on both panels and the plain view is NOT preserved on left panel, so it looks that locking is irrelevant. I'll start a new topic in Bug Reports.

Re: feature request: save Plain view mode accross FC sessions
I spent time testing it this morning. Here are my observations. Tested with FreeCommander XE 2020 Build 810a 32-bit publicDreamer wrote: ↑19.02.2020, 23:34 OK, with default settings (813), just one tab opened per panel, when I enabled plain view for both panels, after FC restart plain view is preserved for right panel only, weird.

At first, I did not have used locked tabs.
In this scenario, plain view was not reserved after restart of FC. Meaning: if plain view was on, during exit of FC, then it was off again when FC was restarted.
Then, I created one locked tab. In this locked tab, plain view set to on, and it was reserved when exiting FC (as Marek already suspected).
However, then, I removed the locked tab (right move click on the tab -> Close folder tab).
After that, I noticed that plain view settings are saved for all new created tabs..
A bit odd...

Thanks for testing, it looks it's more a bug / issue, you can try to reproduce this one:
viewtopic.php?f=7&t=10333
It looks like the first tab on left panel is broken, even with default settings.

Looks like they are related, yes.Dreamer wrote: ↑20.02.2020, 21:59 Thanks for testing, it looks it's more a bug / issue, you can try to reproduce this one:

Re: feature request: save Plain view mode accross FC sessions
Unfortunately that is also in-correct also in my 770
If the tab in the Left Panel was in the CTRL + B mode and FC was closed, then after reopening of FC in now displayed in normal mode; no matter if that tab was locked or not. And the Right Panel has no problems like that
