Folder Size and Symbolic Links

#1 Post by Mr-Fly » 16.04.2019, 11:54

If I use freecommander on a server and list the folder size for the users directory, it will always also calculate the links that are inside the folder.
In this case it will also add the filesize of the c:\programdata as this is the "All Users" folder.
There should be an option to turn this off, as this leads to very weird sums if you eg. calculate volume c:\ as it will give you a size that can even be more than the disk-size.
It is at all questionable to anyhow add the files behind the link to the list, as they dont reside in that folder for real.

For "reparse points" (I think you mean reparse points as you write link) the size is not computed.
Maybe you could explain more exactly your problem. Some screenshots would be helpfull - you can send me the screenshots per email.

I will do, when i am back to work.
But the example I mentioned is in my eyes clear.
C:\users\All Users is a symbolic Link to c:\Programdata
If I let all folder on c:\ show with show folder size, c:\users will also include the size of c:\programdata as the symbolic link will also be summarized.

OK, I know now what you mean.
You are right, for "c:\Users\All Users" the size should be 0.

Exactly, as the "real" folder is c:\programdata

This change breaks the view of my OneDrive directory sizes. My 'home' onedrive directory is located in c:\Users\Me\OneDrive\... All of my directory sizes are now 0 in size.
