Is it possible to Search/Filter encrypted files ?

#1 Post by justcosmic1 » 06.01.2019, 21:20

Hi,
I'm new here - but have searched the forum and not seen an answer to this:
Is it possible to Search/Filter encrypted files ?
Reason for asking is that I have accidentally accumulated a fairly large quantity of encrypted files as it seems that .zip files created on certain versions of OSX when extracted in windows become encrypted. No problem for local access; but as I synchronize between 2 machines it has become an issue.
What I want to be able to do is to locate them on mass, and then change their file attributes on mass (to not encrypted of course).
So ideally I would love to be able to filter my downloads folder to display only encrypted files, then select all, then change the file attributes to not encrypted.

Many thanks - and I hope I didn't miss something that's already on the forum :)

Search (Ctrl+F) using the attribute "Encrypted":

Then select all, or export all to file container. I'm not sure if it works also for files from another OS though.

Thanks for the reply.
OK - I will have to do a test folder to better understand the behaviour.
Just editing this as I have tested with an idiot proof method and know understand the 3 states of the attributes check boxes.
So I have to have grey ticks for everything else and a black tick for "encrypted" it would seem.
Very clever. Beginning to love FreeCommander already!
Many thanks again :)

PS Is there a way to make encrypted files show up with green text like in windows explorer ? (possibly the only WE feature I miss ! :D )

On the screenshot "Verschlüsselt" mean Encrypted: https://freecommander.com/fchelpxe/en/Itemscolor.html

PS Have just donated as I just managed to locate and un-encrypt a ton of files that would otherwise have been a nightmare to deal with!
I am very grateful ! :)

Following on from my previous questions and solution for filtering through the search dialogue, I wondered if it is possible to get this to work the same way in the regular folder filter?
At the moment it seems to only work for the selected folder and not sub folders.
It would be a really nice and quicker way than having to go to the search dialogue for this function.
Just a thought - many thanks
Justin
